About
Established in 2021, Sheridan Experiential Design (XD) teaches students to create interactive experiences involving people and the world around them.  The program reached out to me to design a name and identity for their first ever grad exhibition that could also evolve with the program. The result is XX25, short for Experiential Design Grad Exhibition 2025, which can evolve to XX26, XX27, etc. for future years.

01Sheridan XD: Connecting People, Design, and the WorldThe core of the identity is the three categories of X’s: design, world, and us. “Design” X’s are vector illustrations that showcase visual principles such as repetition, emphasis, and symmetry. “World” X’s are a collection of found imagery: the human chromosome, four leaf clovers, crosswalks, and more. “Us” X’s are a set of 15 X’s designed by the graduating students themselves in a workshop that I facilitated.

02X’s All Around
Aside from the visual possibilities of X, there are also endless cultural references. X as an unknown value, as a sign of collaboration, as a directional axis, as a location marker. These cultural meanings give future students room to expand the base identity into future exhibition themes. One expression that I did execute for the 2025 show is “X Marks the Spot”: a postcard that encourages visitors to collect stamps of each student’s X as they visit their booth at the physical show.
